Cost Information Window

 
The Cost Information window is only accessible from the Estimated Costing tab of the Project Information window, and is where the estimated cost is captured. Asterisk (*) fields are required.

Fields

1. Fields
  •  Cost Category*: used to breakdown the different cost areas, such as Labor or Materials. Users may create a new category by typing the name into the field, or select from an existing list. This category name becomes the title of the field in the Estimated Costing tab.
  •  Color of Money*: a government term to denote different funding or appropriation categories. It is used to calculate total costs for the Chart and Cost Thresholds views. You may create a new color of money by typing the name into the field, or select from an existing list.
  •  Value*: dollar value of the selected project for this color of money and cost category
  •  Start* and End* dates: apply only to this estimated cost and do not have to match the project's dates. For a new cost, these values default to the period of performance dates of the project. If the estimated cost end date exceeds the project's end date, the project will be flagged in the Gantt view with a red Type cell to show a data error.
  •  Description: text field for any additional notes regarding the cost information

Window Buttons

2. Window Buttons
The Clear Changes button resets all fields to the original values; it is only available when editing an existing cost. The Delete button immediately removes the current cost; it does not permanently remove the current cost unless the Apply button is also clicked. The Apply button saves edits made in any tab of the Cost Information window, and then closes the window. The Cancel button reverses edits made in any tab of the Cost Information window, and then closes the window.
