Object Diagram – Node Types

In an Object diagram, there are two Node Type options: Object and Field. Examples of each are provided below.

The Object node type is the default selection and produces the main shapes in the report. Relationships can be drawn between Object shapes.

Object with Field

Field items are listed below a line in the Object shape; the shape cannot be expanded or collapsed (unlike a Class diagram). While an Object shape displays a stereotype, the Field does not. Any element type can be set as a Field and assigned to its parent through the Node form or the Relationship form. If the Relationship form is used, all Display Type selections result in the same image as nesting via the Node form.
If a Field is added to an Object container (i.e., it has other shapes nested within it), the Field is then displayed as a shape.
