Relocate a Risk

Moving risks out of one architecture and into another is not common, but if necessary, the actions must be performed in Collector. The user must have write access to the Collector module and to both the originating and receiving architectures. If a risk has items attached to it (i.e., child risks or mitigation steps), those nested items must be relocated first (as shown in this guide).

1. Load the originating architecture in Collector. The risks that need to be relocated in this example have mitigation steps. You need to copy these first. From the Outlook Bar, select the Risk Mitigation node.
2. Filter the Risk element to display only the risks you are moving ("First Child Risk" and "Second Child Risk" in the example). Copy these records to Excel.
3. Delete the mitigation records you filtered out. (NOTE: Remember this process explains how to relocate risks. If you are copying the risks and mitigations for use in another architecture, then do not delete them from this original architecture.)
4. Select the Risk node in the Outlook Bar. Filter the Name element to display only the records you want to move. Copy these records to Excel. Be sure you paste the risk records into a new spreadsheet tab—do not overwrite your mitigation records from step 2.
5. Delete these filtered risk records.
6. Click Select in the Ribbon Bar to return to the landing page.
7. Load the receiving architecture in Collector. Select the Risk node in the Outlook Bar. Import the risk records from Excel.
8. Select the Risk Mitigation node in the Outlook Bar. Import the mitigation records from Excel.
9. Launch RAM from the welcome page or Architex Tools menu, and load the receiving architecture.
10. Verify the new risks are in the proper location. If not, rearrange them to your liking.
