Risk Type

Risk Type defines the ways risks will be grouped and compared. Typically limited to a small number of options, these groups determine the overall buckets that risks will fall in to. Risk types assist in identifying stakeholders for a group of risks; customer service managers would likely be more concerned about a risk for being unable to support users’ needs than about a risk against the budgetary constraints of the upcoming year.
Typical risk types include project, mission, business, and program. However, users can determine their own list of risk types.
Records from this node populate the Risk Type pull-down menu on the Risk form in RAM. Name provides the pull-down option, while Description gives the hover hint for each. The Name element must be filled in prior to completing the Risk Category node.
