SV-1: Systems Interface Description

The steps below walk the user through populating data in Collector for an SV-1: Systems Interface Description component diagram. This how-to topic presumes a novice-level knowledge of Architex and the Collector module. These steps can be completed by a user with write access to the module and architecture.
An SV-1 addresses the composition and interaction of systems.
It may be helpful to sketch out the overall operation (on a whiteboard or paper) before entering data into Collector.
Nodes and elements that should be populated at the end of this process:

1. Load the desired architecture (based on the UPDM 2.1 Framework) in Collector.
2. To capture the system (or resource) roles, select the Resource Role node in the Outlook Bar.
2a. Enter the name of the role in the Name element. (If the node is empty, click the Add button in the Ribbon Bar.)
2b. In the Parent Role element, select the parent from the menu for each associated role. If the newly added parent does not appear in the menu, click the Update References or the Refresh Data button in the Ribbon Bar.
3. Next, we need to document the connections between resource roles. These are captured in the Resource Interface node. Select that node now. Add the roles that are connected in the Source Role and Target Role elements. Name the record, if desired.
4. In the Reporter module, select the SV-1 report and generate it. (See how to create an SV-1 if you need to create or modify the SV-1 for this enterprise.) If the resulting diagram is not correct, then return to Collector and make any necessary changes.
